Four-track Demo: America’s Sleeping (All We Want Is Our Freedom)

About Eric’s four-track demos: “America’s Sleeping (All We Want Is Our Freedom)” was recorded in April 1998. This song was recorded on a four-track, analog, cassette tape machine. The song has been cleaned up using Avid Pro Tools and Audacity. No new takes or instrumentation were added to the original work.

Lyrics for America’s Sleeping (All We Want Is Our Freedom) are available here.

Flashback Friday: “Lovesong” by The Cure vs. “Crushing Your Head” by Kids In The Hall

Such a great song…such a terrible video.

Video embedding for “Lovesong” by The Cure is disabled by Rhino Entertainment and once you watch the video you will see why. “Lovesong” by The Cure is on YouTube here (link opens in a new page).

The title for the “Lovesong” video should be “Bob and The Cure Boys Versus the Slimy Stalagmites.”

Bob first appears to be alone in a cave. Next, he focuses on his hand and appears to visually hallucinate the band’s keyboard player into existence. In what may be the only highlight of the video, Bob promptly crushes the keyboard player’s head (à la Kids in the Hall) at 1:10.

Here’s the Kids in the Hall video, which is embeddable:

Echo Lake Makes Radiohead Style Music Video Using Kinect

If you’ve visited the site before, you may know that I am interested in Kinect for Xbox 360 and have written about it before. I saw this article from Fast Company about Echo Lake (a band with a definite My Bloody Valentine influence) and their video that uses Kinect to mimic a Radiohead video.

When Radiohead made their video a few years ago, it took quite just a bit more technology. Here’s a “making of” video:

This is the original Radiohead video for “House of Cards”

This is the Echo Lake video for “Young Silence”
